Help us welcome the veterans home!
Freedom Honor Flight, the La Crosse hub of the national Honor Flight program for veterans, will take its 15th flight to Washington D.C., Saturday, May 2. Organizers invite the public to help welcome the veterans home when they arrive back in La Crosse about 10 pm. The popular welcome home ceremonies features a color guard, patriotic music by the Onalaska High School Marching Band, flag waving, signs, streamed images of the day’s events in Washington and refreshments.

Honorees on the flight include 28 World War II veterans, 51 Korean War veterans and one Vietnam War veteran. The Vietnam War veteran is participating through the TLC program, which grants terminally ill veterans priority status. Passengers also include volunteer guardians, two physicians, paramedics, nurses and flight organizers.
