Saturday, September 18 Itinerary
SEND-OFF CEREMONY
A presentation and color guard salute will begin at 6:15 a.m. Saturday, September 18, at the Colgan Air hangar across from the La Crosse municipal airport. Parking is free. Shuttles driven by ROTC members to and from parking lots will be available. Take-off for the Sun Country Boeing 737 will be between 6:45 and 7:15 a.m.
WHILE IN WASHINGTON, D.C.
Veterans, guardians and medical crew will be transported on deluxe tour busses from the Washington Dulles International Airport to the World War II Memorial, where veterans will be honored with a ceremony and participate in a memorial for those who died during and since World War II. Veterans will have the opportunity to visit other memorials, including the Vietnam Veteran Memorial, Korean War Memorial and others.
WELCOME HOME CEREMONY
The welcome home ceremony will begin with entertainment from the Onalaska High School Band at 9:30 p.m. The La Crosse Skyrockers provide a fireworks display for the returning veterans. Officials expect a large crowd of people to gather and greet the veterans upon their return. Family, friends, supporters and the public are encouraged to arrive between 9 and 9:30 pm. Parking is free. Shuttles driven by ROTC members to and from parking lots will be available.
